CORNELIA — The City of Cornelia says former IT Director Jeremy Dundore has been charged following a GBI investigation connected to missing city equipment.
Dundore was terminated effective March 9 for reasons unrelated to the missing equipment matter, according to a city statement issued Tuesday, Sept. 1.
After Dundore’s departure, the city conducted an audit and determined that “high dollar equipment was missing,” the city said. The incident was then turned over to the GBI for further investigation.
The city said the GBI has since brought charges against Dundore and that the case remains ongoing. The city did not specify the charges or identify the equipment in its statement.
“The city has cooperated fully with the GBI throughout its investigation and will continue to do so as the legal process moves forward,” the statement said. “As these are pending criminal charges, Mr. Dundore is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
The city said it has taken steps to strengthen equipment and inventory controls because of the incident and will not provide further comment while the investigation and legal proceedings continue.
City Manager Donald Anderson said requests for information on the matter should be directed to the GBI Public Office of Information because the investigation remains active.
