Boil Water Notice Issued After Cornelia Water Main Break

Cornelia residents in several neighborhoods are being advised to boil their water following an 8-inch water main break Friday.

The City of Cornelia said water service was temporarily interrupted Sept. 11 while crews made repairs. A boil water notice will remain in effect after service is restored and until the city announces that the notice has been lifted.

The affected areas include:

  • Chase Road from 1441 Chase Road to 2082 Chase Road
  • Ridgeway Circle from 248 Ridgeway Circle to 529 Ridgeway Circle
  • McAllister Road
  • Lawrence Street
  • Sellers Loop
  • Rosecliff Drive
  • Chase Crossing

Residents in those areas should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or preparing food, according to the city.

The boil water notice is a precaution while the water system is evaluated following the repair. Residents should continue taking the precautions until city officials confirm that the notice has been lifted.

The city apologized for the interruption and said residents will be notified when the water is safe to use without boiling.
