Republican Lt. Governor Nominee Greg Dolezal to Visit Cornelia Tuesday

Republican nominee for lieutenant governor Greg Dolezal will visit Cornelia Tuesday evening for a campaign reception hosted by two Habersham County lawmakers.

State Sen. Bo Hatchett and state Rep. Victor Anderson are hosting the reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Common Ground, located at 643 Irvin Street in Cornelia.

Dolezal, a state senator from Cumming, secured the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor after defeating former state Sen. John F. Kennedy in the June 16 runoff. Dolezal received approximately 54% of the vote.

He will face Democratic state Sen. Josh McLaurin in the Nov. 3 general election. The winner will succeed Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who chose to run for governor rather than seek another term.

The lieutenant governor presides over the Georgia Senate and can play a significant role in determining committee assignments and which legislation reaches the Senate floor.

Dolezal was first elected to the Georgia Senate in 2018 and represents District 27, which includes much of Forsyth County. He chairs the Senate Transportation Committee and was an original chairman of the Georgia Freedom Caucus.

Before entering politics, Dolezal founded and led businesses in technology, manufacturing, health care and other industries. According to his campaign, he also worked in ministry, served on staff at North Point Church and helped launch Passion City Church in Atlanta.

Dolezal’s campaign emphasizes conservative priorities including reducing property and state income taxes, expanding parental choice in education, supporting law enforcement and protecting gun rights. He also highlights his work on Georgia’s school-choice program, restrictions on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in public schools, and the Riley Gaines Act governing participation in girls’ and women’s school sports.

Tuesday’s event is a campaign fundraiser. The flyer lists suggested contributions of $2,500 for chair-level supporters, $1,000 for hosts, $500 for sponsors and $200 per couple for attendees.

Questions and RSVPs may be directed to Emily Herrin at info@commongroundcornelia.com or to Stephanie Jones or Chelsey Ruppersburg at RSVP@campaignconsultinggroupllc.com.

The event is paid for by Dolezal for Georgia.
