No. 4 Lady Indians Sweep George Walton, Trinity Classical at Home

The No. 4-ranked TFS Lady Indians swept a pair of home volleyball matches Tuesday, defeating No. 6 George Walton and Trinity Classical School.

Against George Walton, TFS opened with a dominant 25-1 set win before the visitors took the second set, 25-20. The Lady Indians won the clinching set 15-9 to secure the match.

“We had one of our best sets in program history, with everything going our way,” coach Matt Heyl said of the opening set against George Walton. “Shelby Whisnant and Emma Whisnant served the entire set, with Shelby going on an incredible 15-point run before Emma finished things off. Their teammates were amazing as well, with everyone contributing offensively and the team playing some great defense.”

Heyl said TFS recovered after a slower start in the third set.

“We started the third set a little slow, finding ourselves down 6-8, but we quickly found their rhythm. A combination of great defense and strong offense helped us go on a run and pull away for the victory.”

TFS followed with a straight-set win over Trinity Classical, 25-17, 25-14, extending its win streak to three matches.

“We picked up a victory over a much-improved Trinity Classical program,” Heyl said. “We put together some great runs that gave us enough of a cushion to withstand the pushes from TCS. Shelby and Tori Crotta went on some good serving runs in the match. Every player contributed throughout the night. Corinne Swinton, Stella Bowman, and Beatriz Araujo provided great offense all night, while Finlee Ridlehoover delivered some solid sets to keep our offense rolling.”

TFS improved to 16-9 and will travel to Loganville Christian on Thursday.
